Pink eye does not cause any changes in vision. Pink eye, or Conjunctivitis, is a common eye ailment that has affected many of us. It is caused by an infection or inflammation of the conjunctiva. Episcleritis is an inflammatory condition that produces a similar appearance to conjunctivitis, but without discharge or tearing. Although the conjunctiva is transparent, it contains most of the blood vessels on the eye’s surface. So anything that triggers eye inflammation will cause these conjunctival blood vessels to dilate.
Poor hand-washing is the main cause of the spread of pinkeye. Irritation and itchiness are two symptoms that are often characteristic of conjunctivitis. Tearing is another prevalent symptom as the eyes develop increased tears in order to aid in relief.
