Adjectival Opposites

Adjectives are that parts of speech used to describe or to modify a noun. You can have access to a list of adjectives used in English language, or you can build your own list of adjectives. Adjectives nearly always appear immediately before the noun or noun phrase that they modify. The opposite or the negative aspect of an adjective can be formed in a number of ways. One way is to use an antonym. For example: the opposite of “beautiful” is “ugly”. Another way to form the opposite of an adjective is with a number of prefixes (in-, un-, dis-, non-, etc). The best way is to consult a dictionary and find which are the antonyms or which prefixes you must use to obtain adjectival opposites.
